Practical Magic 2 cast: Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in discussions for the announced sequel

Warner Bros. surprised her TikTok followers today by announcing that Practical Magic 2, the sequel to the 1998 romantic fantasy film, was in production.

Released in October 1998, Practical Magic was a huge hit over the Halloween season. At the time, Nicole Kidman was just 31-year-old and was still married to Tom Cruise.

The story follows two sisters, Sally (Bullock) and Gillian Owens (Kidman), from a long line of witches. Orphaned, they are raised by their eccentric aunts, who embrace their magical heritage. However, the Owens family is cursed: any man who falls in love with an Owens woman is doomed to an early death.

Deadline confirms that the stars of the original film, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, are currently in discussions to reprise their roles as sisters Sally and Gillan.

Fans of this movie are eagerly awaiting more information regarding the actors who will be in this new production. If many of the original Practical magic cast members are retained, it suggests that the film's storyline is a continuation of the first installment. Will Nicole Kidman appear again?

The actor who played Sandra Bullock's husband also had an interesting role. It's about Mark Feuerstein as Michael, Sally's late husband and father of Kylie and Antonia Owens. He is a victim of his wife's family curse, which results in his untimely death when their daughters are young. Will he be part of the new cast?

Akiva Goldsman, who wrote the original film alongside Robin Swicord and Adam Brooks, will return to pen the screenplay. Bullock and Kidman are set to produce alongside the original's Denise Di Novi. Details about the plot of the sequel are currently under wraps.

Griffin Dunne (An American Werewolf in London) directed Practical Magic, an adaptation of Alice Hoffman's 1995 novel. We still don't know who will direct the sequel.
